Invitation Only Biodynamic Field Day Inverleigh Victoria

Biodynamics is a very low input, low cost method that does not rely on fertilisers (organic or conventional), or composts, but rather builds soil and soil fertility in situ. Biodynamic farmers use biological preparations to enliven the soil and the plant, soil, and sun interactions.

About the event

We are excited to begin our CoVision journey with a field day for our Co-visionaries who are serious about growing food to feed the larger community. This event is only open to people who have signed up to receive a Covision Appraisal, and is not open to the general public.

In particular we are seeking land owners (or those working the land for the community), who are interested in the practical application of biodynamic farming methods. If this is you, then please register to join us for our field day. If you are simply wanting to grow food in your garden, for enjoyment and for family and friends, this day is not for you. We will be providing additional workshops on alternate urban farming projects and we will be very grateful for your assistance, once we get the larger farming projects up and running.

A little about biodynamics and what the field day will include:    Biodynamics is a very low input, low cost method that does not rely on fertilisers (organic or conventional), or composts, but rather builds soil and soil fertility in situ. Biodynamic farmers use biological preparations to enliven the soil and the plant, soil, and sun interactions.  This day will be aimed primarily at vegetable production, but the methods are also applicable to fruit, meat, dairy, grain etc.

We will cover some or all of the following:

  • The ramifications of conventional Agriculture
  • Plant feeding within nature – How it should be
  • Soil cultivation, to improve soil structure
  • Soil humus formation and microbial activity
  • Using Biodynamic preparations
  • Sheet composting and green manures
  • Biodynamic pasture management
  • Machinery introduction
  • Q&A time set aside throughout the day

After the days activities, participants can choose to join one of the non-profit farming organisations, for a small fee.  BioDynamic farmers, would then be available for mentoring those that want to start using these methods.

Our host is kindly providing his extensive knowledge and time to us and you at no cost, however we would request a voluntary donation (up to $100 p/p paid upon registration), to assist with our ongoing CoVision projects.

* Please pack a lunch for yourself, however light refreshments will be provided.
